A Right to Heal: Mental Health in Diverse Communities
“A Right to Heal: Mental Health in Diverse Communities” presents findings from a series of in-person and virtual listening sessions hosted by local and statewide organizations with over 600 community members in Alameda, Kern, Butte, and Los Angeles to learn how Black, Indigenous, people of color engage with mental health and mental health systems. The report, which outlines key recommendations for equitable improvements in the Mental Health Services Act and advocacy opportunities in the local jurisdictions where agencies reside, was led by the California Pan-Ethnic Health Network in partnership with the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center, California Black Health Network, Latino Coalition for a Healthy California, California Consortium for Urban Indian Health, Bakersfield American Indian Health Project, California Black Women’s Health Project, Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth, Visión y Compromiso, and Hmong Cultural Center of Butte County.
