Two Weeks Left to Apply to  Lead a Workshop, Receive a Scholarship for Moving Mountains 2019

Are you a community/student organizer who can share effective ways to mobilize to demand change? Or an artist hoping to engage community members in a creative installation that promotes collective healing and restoration? Or perhaps you have a big idea for a three-day seminar that will bridge the history of the Southeast Asian American legacy to the modern-day civil rights movement.
What ever your idea is, we want to hear it! SEARAC is still accepting workshop proposals for our second biennial Moving Mountains: A Southeast Asian American Equity Summit, which will take place on October 2-4 in Sacramento, CA, and will bring together 175-200 Southeast Asian American changemakers, from college students, to community leaders, to elders, from across the United States.
We invite you to submit your vision that keeps in mind our convening’s overall theme of Southeast Asian American self-determination and at least one of our four guiding pillars: inspirationconnectioninnovation, and activation. You’ll be able to choose from one of seven workshop themes: capacity building; community engagement; mind, body, and soul; policy and advocacy; diversity, inclusion, and racial equity; artistic expression; and big ideas. And you’ll also select one of four session formats, ranging from a multiday 180-minute deep dive to a 30-minute group reflection.
Proposals will be accepted through Friday, June 28, at 11:59 PT.

SPOTLIGHT: CAPACITY BUILDING

Next week, SEARAC will be celebrating 20 years of developing a new generation of leaders through our annual Leadership and Advocacy Training Program. This year, we’ll be welcoming 48 community advocates from 15 states to DC to build their leadership and policy advocacy skills so they can discuss the issues that matter most to them with their congressional reps – and bring that knowledge back home with them.

At Moving Mountains 2019, we seek workshops that will help build capacity to sustain and propel the growing Southeast Asian American movement. Send us your ideas here!
