“We condemn the president’s attempt to negotiate the livelihood of thousands of federal workers in exchange for a border wall that neither protects our communities nor keeps our families safe,” said Quyen Dinh, executive director of SEARAC. “This wasteful, ill-conceived, and unnecessary border wall proposal is based on a manufactured crisis that the Trump Administration created through its cruel policies toward children and families seeking asylum. We will not tolerate this Administration’s ongoing effort to divide our nation with hate and ignorance, using false statements about immigrants and asylum seekers.
