Naomi Steinberg Named Deputy Director by the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC)
Washington, DC — The Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Naomi Steinberg to Deputy Director.
Ms. Steinberg, who formerly served as SEARAC's Southeast Asian American Values, Empowerment, Resources, and Betterment project (VERB) Project Manager for Administration started her new position on August 1, 2005. Ms. Steinberg has worked with national and grassroots Southeast Asian American organizations since 2000. Before joining the VERB project in early 2003, she was the Program Coordinator for SEARAC's Successful New Americans Project (SNAP). Prior to working for SEARAC, she was the Director of Program Development and Communication for the National Alliance of Vietnamese American Service Agencies (NAVASA). Ms. Steinberg received a B.A. in Political Science from Macalester College in 1997 and her M.A. in Southeast Asian Studies from Cornell University in 2000.

SEARAC is a national organization primarily led by, as well as for, Americans with heritage in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Its constituents include a network of over 190 refugee-led community organizations throughout the country that can be viewed on-line at www.searac.org/maa. Founded in 1979, SEARAC focuses on building the capacity of organizations in its network, on advocating for and with Southeast Asian Americans for improvements in public policy, and on generating and presenting information about the communities.
