Southeast Asian American Mutual Assistance Association Directory 2000

The Southeast Asian American Mutual Assistance Association Directory 2000 is the first comprehensive listing and description of Southeast Asian American mutual assistance associations (MAAs). The Directory lists contact information and provides data on the programs and history of 137 MAAs — community-based organizations that are primarily managed by and for Southeast Asian Americans — throughout the nation. The Directory also provides useful data on Southeast Asian American communities; describes national-level organizations focusing on Cambodian, Hmong, and Vietnamese Americans; and presents summary information in a convenient index. The goals of the Directory are to help MAAs communicate with one another more effectively, to link more mainstream organizations with MAAs, and to provide insight into the largely invisible — but vitally important — nonprofit organizations that serve and represent Americans of Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese descent.
