Position Announcement: Development & Operations Coordinator

SEARAC is currently seeking a Development & Operations Coordinator

Position Summary: The Development & Operations Coordinator works in partnership with SEARAC’s management team on a variety of resource development efforts, including researching and writing grant proposals, managing funder-related logistics, and working with the Director of Communications on online individual giving campaigns. The Development & Operations Coordinator is also responsible for working in cooperation with SEARAC’s Administrative Manager in order to manage the day-to-day bookkeeping operations of the organization. The Development & Operations Coordinator is the primary contact person with SEARAC’s accountant and three finance-related Board of Directors committees.

Location of Position:  SEARAC’s Washington, DC office

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of grant proposals, both narrative and financial sections
  • Manage logistics related to establishing relationships with new funders
  • Work in partnership with SEARAC management and Board of Directors on planning and implementing fundraising events
  • Plan online fundraising campaigns in coordination with SEARAC’s Director of Communications
  • Assist SEARAC management and Board of Directors’ Finance Committee on the preparation of annual budgets and fundraising goals/plans
  • Manage SEARAC’s day-to-day bookkeeping tasks
  • Manage human resources activities, including payroll and benefits administration
  • Work closely with SEARAC’s management and accountant to prepare financial documents in advance of Board of Director meetings and in preparation for grant proposals
  • Work in partnership with SEARAC’s management and accountant in preparation for SEARAC’s annual audit
  • Administer SEARAC’s operational needs (e.g., IT)
  • Manage SEARAC’s human resources, including benefits administration and ensuring compliance with employment law

Required Qualifications:

  • One to two years of experience working with financial systems (experience with Quickbooks preferred) and nonprofit fundraising
  • Experience working with Southeast Asian American communities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direction supervision
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably with accounting coursework

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, plus a strong benefits package.
