Valerie Taing

Valerie Taing is currently the Director of Programs at the Institute for Community Peace.  Part of her work has involved conducting a feasibility study in the Seattle area Cambodian community.  Previously, while based in New York City, she served as the National Coordinator of The Right to the City Alliance, a national collective of grassroots organizations combating gentrification and displacement in U.S. cities.  As the first staff member, she played a key role in implementing and facilitating the development of the start-up organization.  Prior to that, Valerie served as the Policy Associate and later as the Communications Coordinator at Health Care for All in Boston, Massachusetts.  In these capacities, she provided support to the health reform coalition that was instrumental in the passage of Massachusetts’ landmark health reform legislation in 2006, as well as coordinated a successful public awareness campaign for children’s oral health.  Valerie holds a BA in Sociology from Simmons College in Boston.
