A Guide to the New and Temporary SSI Extension Law for Humanitarian Immigrants [PDF]
A new law, “The SSI Extension for Elderly and Disabled Refugees Act” (Public Law 110-328), extends SSI eligibility for refugees and other humanitarian immigrants past the 7-year period, allowing them to receive at least 2 more years of SSI. This FAQ answers some of the more commonly asked questions about the new law.

Security Income (SSI) Extension for Elderly and Disabled Refugees Act Signed by President [PDF]
This act provides an additional two years of SSI for elderly and disabled refugees who have been cut off from their SSI benefits because of the seven year time limit for refugees and other humanitarian immigrants. This two year SSI extension is set to expire in 2011.
